LGBTQ+ Americans

As Pride Month comes to a close, we thank our partners working at the forefront of ensuring that our country is inclusive and accepting of all of those in the LGBTQ+ community. We also want to acknowledge that Pride started through the protests and work of LGBTQ+ people of color, particularly trans women of color, and that none of what we know as Pride, even socially distant Pride, would be possible without their groundwork.

Earlier this month, we saw the Supreme Court stand on the right side of history and affirm that employment discrimination because of sexual orientation or transgender status violates Title VII, which protects people from gender discrimination in the workplace. This civil rights advancement came five years after another key victory, Obergefell v. Hodges, that ensured marriage access no matter the gender identity or sexual orientation of those getting married. Bolder Advocacy is proud to stand alongside the many people celebrating this victory and is committed in guaranteeing that the ongoing fight for equality in healthcare, education, housing, civil rights, and other accommodations or programs continues alongside these momentous wins. We know the importance of advocating at both the legislative and administrative branches of government, and we remain steadfast in working with organizations on the frontlines of these important efforts.

As always, we are available through our Technical Assistance Hotline to answer questions regarding your advocacy work. We also are available for trainings and have a host of resources on our website in relation to lobbying, advocacy, grantmaking, and election-related activity. The Bolder Advocacy team is here to help your nonprofit deepen its capacity to advocate boldly.
